"Our joy comes from creating something special that really touches people’s hearts through each bite."

Soirette Pastry Boutique was a magical jewel-box pastry shop situated in the beautiful Coal Harbour area of Vancouver, BC. The shop specialized in delicious cakes, desserts and Parisian macarons, with a flair of Asian and French influences. It served the community for 10 years before deciding to close it's shop front.

Soirette was the dream of Pastry Chef Shobna Kannusamy, an alumnus of the Diplome de Pâtisserie program at Le Cordon Bleu with Top Honors, who fell in love with baking while completing her previous engineering degree at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Together with her team of talented pastry chefs, she created desserts and cakes from the finest ingredients to be a treat for the senses. Having lived in different parts of the world while growing up in a diverse, multicultural community, Shobna brought a unique twist to her creations and offerings.

Soirette will continue to contribute and inspire its followers on social media (@lovesoirette) with recipes and stories that fill daily living with goodness. Chef Kannusamy will continue to serve the hospitality industry through Organizational Coaching after she completes her course at UBC at the end of 2022.  In the mean time, she will be a resource for those in need of support and guidance to small business, recipe development and collaborations.

An in-depth article was written by Managing Editor Lindsay William-Ross from Vancouver Is Awesome here. It provides insight as to how Chef Kannusamy came to her decision to close this beloved bakery after a decade and what is inspiring her to take on her new path.
